Is this a better way to open a car door?
This car’s doors slide down and away into a slot under the vehicle so you never have to worry about hitting the car next to you when you open your door.

+ the Antro solo

This three-seat gas-electric hybrid prototype is made entirely out of carbon fiber, which allowed the designers to lower the weight of the vehicle to a measly 270kg thereby achieving maximum fuel efficiency and a pretty decent top speed of 87mph.

The solar panels on the roof store energy in the car’s batteries for short (15-25km) trips. If there hasn’t been enough sun to power the batteries, each passenger’s seat comes equipped with pedals that can power the vehicle’s generator. If you are by yourself, or your passengers are tired, the car can switch to its small combustion engine, which is capable of running on petrol or ethanol. That’s slick, and perfect for popping down to the corner shop for a bottle of milk. The prototype was shown at the Budapest Museum of Transport.

+ Diesel-electric hybrid car is on Sale now!
The Aptera has a 2+1 seating configuration. The two front seats are arranged in standard side-by-side seating with a center infant seat in the back. An environmentally friendly car, the Aptera offers an all-electric or plug-in hybrid option with the top speed of 85 mph plus the cool look of the arthropod automobile aesthetic.
There is enough storage in the rear for 15 bags of groceries, or 2 full size golf club bags. And the Aptera is even big enough for a couple of seven-foot surfboards and associated beach accessories.
It costs around US$27,000 and you can reserve yours for a fully refundable US$500 deposit
