Gift for designers: NoteSlate

Don’t get me wrong, I love sketching on paper. But NoteSlate’s extreme minimalism fascinates me. I'm not going to go into all the details of how cool the Noteslate is, because, well, I don't even own one. Suffice it to say that it’s as close to sketching on paper as you can get without, well, sketching on paper. At the moment, I'm just drooling over the colour selections and its brilliant functionality.

Which of the voices in my head should I listen to? The three-year-old that’s screaming, “I want one!” or the adult that knows it’s really just a great toy. So, should I get it? And if so, which colour?
Decisions! Decisions!
I’m really curious, would you get one? Should I?

AutoCAD for MAC addict

Seriously! You aren’t dreaming!
AutoCAD for Mac has been released and it’s ready to download.
I’d heard it was coming, and I got all excited over a brief glimpse a while back. Well, the wait is finally over...
It’s even better news for students, who can download the software with a free three-year worldwide license or pay a nominal fee to remove the ‘education edition’ watermark.

... Note ...
If you are having trouble installing it, here are some tips:
- The system language needs to be in English, or it will CRASH!
- Run system preferences / language & text and in the language bar choose English and put it on first place.
- Then reboot or re-log-on to your Mac
- Run Disk Utility... verify the disk... then restart your computer.
- If you get stuck at the splash screen, try uninstalling; delete all AutoDesk folders, then reinstall.

Here are a couple of links you should have. The free 30 day trial download:

And the *FREE* student version

Bladeless fan

Have you ever wanted to stick your fingers into a spinning fan?

Today I stuck not only my fingers but my whole hand into the Dyson Air Multiplier™. This new desk fan from Dyson has no blades and no safety grille simply because it doesn’t need any.

With no blades or grille, it’s easy to clean and also has touch-tilt, 90° oscillation and dimmer-switch power control. It’s a very cool design, simple, nice, sleek and edgy. I love it!
But – and it’s a big but – it’s around $300!
It blows air and hums just like a regular fan but it’s bladeless. I get it; it’s cool, but I’d rather pay $30 for a conventional one so I can talk into the spinning blades and make strange voices.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Dyson but it’s more of a hi-tech feature than a cost-effective alternative to a conventional fan.
