Tupperware party

Tupperware fantabulous!
A necklace made from coloured Tupperware lids which were cut up, fused together then strung with sterling silver.

Many hours spent searching for vintage plastic knitting needles can unearth amazing finds, including faux tortoiseshell. All blue knitting needles make up this necklace.
Liana Kabel, a full time artist at the Museum of Brisbane's Workspace, is the daughter of a Tupperware Lady mother and a jeweller father. What a fantabulous combination!

Vintage lover: Honeysuckle

My friends are getting married next weekend. So we’re hunting for some vintage style to match the theme of the celebrations.
I love vintage. I’ve always been attracted to vintage and I love to use it in my wardrobe. Vintage can sometimes look like junk to the uninspired and it takes a creative eye to see the beauty behind it. So this week I couldn’t resist gathering some inspiring vintage wardrobe tips for all my dear friends.

+ The Feathered Nest

Sarina Market never fails to delight. Held on the last Sunday of every month, it not only brings together the region’s market regulars, it also attracts those artistic souls for whom a month is only just long enough to prepare a new consignment of creations.

This month, I came across a selection of the most exquisite accessories from the The Feathered Nest. Imagine my surprise when I discover that Elaine, the creative force behind the brand and a dedicated blogger, lives just a mile or so down the road from me.

Sure, we both blog; we’re both members of the virtual community, but without the traditional community market to connect us, we might never have met.

So before you buy from the world, see what your local community has to offer. Sometimes the very thing you’re looking for is right under your nose.
Check out Elaine’s blog via her website at

Some of favorite things

1. Potted orchids are one of my favourite finishing elements for home interiors.

by Herve Gamb

2. Good manners
Smythson of Bond Street delivers an elegant range of timeless stationery. My writing paper of choice when I was living in London, Smythson now offers charming folded notelets with a die-stamped 'Thank You' motif, presented in a tissue-lined gift box.

3. Vintage jewels
Add some sparkle from the past and discover jewelry that invites conversation.

4. Chandeliers
Pure fantasy … hang them over a kitchen table for a touch of everyday luxury or suspend them a foot from the floor as a glittering sculpture.

5. Bauhaus to my house
Mies van der Rohe is amazing. As Mies says: “I am not interested in being interesting; I just want to be good.”
His works have always inspired me.

+ seanook, art & design

This weekend, I went to the Whitsunday Boat Show at Airlie Beach. So what a great excuse to check out the famous Airlie Beach markets, which are held every Saturday morning right on the beach.
Among the many fascinating stalls, one in particular caught my eye: a beautiful display of unique handmade jewellery, all arranged to perfection on a rickety foldaway table. I had to go back and persuade the owner to let me snap some shots.

For more on this funky jewellery,
you can get in touch
with Marion through seanook.

+ tile

“Oh, I like this necklace!”
It was my first thought.
Until I read the article …

TILE Modular lighting system

The Tile is a clean, unique, playful, contemporary, and multifunctional LED lighting device. Because of its modular nature with unique joints that allow the lighting units to rotate along both the X-axis and Z-axis, it can function as a work lamp, a floor lamp, and a wall lamp. It can also reconfigure into a decorative lighting device to create a specific mood.
Designer: Gary Chang

They’re actually lamps, but I still think they are as pretty as jewellery – necklaces, bangles, rings and pendants.
